Troubleshooting

Find your problem, then do the fix. Click a problem to open it.

The game stutters or crashes on a busy server
  1. 1
Join a server with fewer cars.

Every car on the server is drawn on your PC: players and traffic. About 25 cars or more needs a graphics card with more than 6 GB of video memory (VRAM).

  2. 2
In BeamNG.drive, open Options, then Graphics, and lower the texture quality.
  3. 3
Close other programs that use the graphics card, like a browser with videos.
Windows says “Windows protected your PC”

Click More info, then Run anyway. Windows shows this for new apps it hasn't seen much yet.

Steam sign-in doesn't finish
  1. 1
Click Open the Steam page again in HighBeam.
  2. 2
Sign in on Steam's page and wait for it to say you can go back.
  3. 3
Still stuck? Click Copy the link and paste it into your browser.
“BeamNG.drive was not found”
  1. 1
Open HighBeam's settings (the sliders button, top right).
  2. 2
Under Your BeamNG files, choose the folder BeamNG.drive is installed in.

    On most PCs that's C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\BeamNG.drive.

It's stuck on “Getting mods” or “Loading the map”

Big mods and maps take a while the first time. Give it a few minutes. If nothing moves, click Disconnect and join again.

Nobody can hear me, or I can't hear anyone
  1. 1
    Open HighBeam's settings.
  2. 2
Pick your microphone and your speakers or headphones.
  3. 3
Click Test microphone and talk. The bar should move.
  4. 4
In the game, hold G while you talk.

Some servers turn voice chat off.

My own mods are gone

HighBeam turns your own mods off while you're on a server, so everyone has the same game. They come back on when you leave the server.

“Wrong password”

Check the password with the server's owner. Passwords care about capital letters.

The server is full

Wait for someone to leave, or pick another server.

HighBeam says an update is ready

Click Restart to update. It takes a few seconds.

Something else

HighBeam keeps a log at %APPDATA%\HighBeam\launcher.log. Paste that path into the File Explorer address bar to find it, and send it to whoever helps you.
